Date: Early FebruaryPurpose: Sponsored by the Paradise Valley Unified School District, this event is primarily for students K-8 participating in choral, orchestral, or band programs. The event was also made available for private piano students, provided their teacher resided in the PV School District. This is a wonderful opportunity for students of all levels--particularly elementary. One piece is polished, memorized and performed for a single judge. Comments are given and a grade of Superior, Excellent, Good, or Fair is received. All participants receive certificates and ribbons. It is a great, low pressure opportunity to receive positive feedback. I encourage all students K-8 to participate.

The teacher will place students in a group based on ability to play the piece up to tempo and ability to FOLLOW A CONDUCTOR. This is not a solo “showcase” opportunity. A general evaluation rehearsal will be held in Late January and four subsequent group rehearsals will be held during the month of February. There is a dress rehearsal the morning of the concert. Students participating 5 years or more receive special recognition in the program and a trophy.
